Deanne Hallman is a local vocalist who, like many natural born singers, had her first solo in a local church — in her case, Amazing Grace, at age 6 in Walters Falls, Ontario. During her teenage years she played bass and blues in the local band, The Benevolent Groundhogs, and was nurtured musically by the breadth and depth of musicians within the local area. While studying classical techniques at York, Wilfrid Laurier, and Waterloo universities, Deanne began privately crafting her own songs. Her debut album, Hello World, is reflective of her musical curiosities and has flavours of rock, orchestral, Africana, and jazz.
"A singer-songwriter who can rock the house, belt the blues or sing a lullaby.” - Carol Holland
“Her silken smooth voice & thoughtful lyrics will have you humming along to her
jazz/blues/rock vibe - true versatility!” - Zak Erb
A local guitar and bass virtuoso, Paul Danard brings his unique style to jazz playing. Having played and taught locally for many years, Paul is easily one of the most prominent musicians in the area, as well as one of our best! His wide repertoire appeals to many jazz fans, from the beginning of the bebop era right up to the emergence of hard bop jazz.
Stephen Wood is a librarian by day and musician by night. He has performed with many groups including the Noodle Factory Jazz Project, Georgian Bay Symphony, the Danns, Will Currie & the Country French, and the Orchid Trail Quartet. He has been fortunate to share the stage with groups such as Sloan, David Wilcox, the Arkells, Tokyo Police Club, Our Lady Peace, Said the Whale, and Dan Mangan. He holds an Honours B. Of Music Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University.
